FINAL DECISION: This is a sweet story but fairly forgettable. I read it once and thought it was fine, but I didn't see anything special about the story or the characters.THE STORY: Faulkner Scott's twelve year old son wants a mom and has set his eyes on Shelly Aster. Although Faulkner believes Shelly is too young, too poor and too inexperienced for him, he can't seem to stop spending time with her. As both Faulker and his son fall for Shelly, she has secrets of her own which might make her perfect match for them both.
OPINION: This is a straightforward and sweet story. For a story like this, to be a really good story, I think that there have to be memorable characters. For me, the story was nice, light and easy to read and enjoy, but there was nothing special about it or its characters. I like Diana Palmer's books, but this story isn't one of the best. Nice one time read but nothing about it was lasting for me.
WORTH MENTIONING: This novella was originally published in 1993.
CONNECTED BOOKS: CALAMITY MOM is a standalone.
STAR RATING: I give this book 2.5 stars.

Calamity Mom edition by Diana Palmer Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
I really love Diane Palmer novels but this one got a little too raunchy for me. I really wish the description of the book included how much sexual content and language there was in the book. I didn't finish it because of his.
I have read a lot of Diana Palmer books and have enjoyed each one. This book was a fast and light happy book to read.
Typical Diana Palmer but tamer in interpersonal relationships. Teasing sexual, money, older hero, and HEA. It was probably an early written book updated in 1990s to publish. Cute Story but should be marketed as novella instead of book length. Could even be updated with a little effort.
I would loved to have read about their life together and becoming a family of four...or more. The story chopped off. Almost as if someone slammed the book closed. Otherwise a good read.
I have been reading Diana Palmer for years. I think I have just about every book she wrote. Once again this is a winner. I love the interaction between the characters. There are scenes that you can see in your mind and totally visualize. You will want to cheer and cry. This is a book you can read more than once and put in your favorites pile.
I got this mainly because this story is only available in a 3 book omnibus. This is a sweet story that will go in my collection of keepers. The story is a little dated but it's charming characters still shine through. If you love a HEA, this is for you! Enjoy!
The book started well, holding my attention to the very end. I was disappointed when the book ended. The characters were each interesting in themselves. Ben was witty and charming. He had chosen Shelly to be his mother and he did well making it happen. It is always fun when a snotty, spoiled woman does not get what she wants and expects just because of who she is. It ends well and was an enjoyable read.
